Town of Weston

Community Profile of:

Weston is a rustic town of sweeping fields, ponds, riverside vistas and thickly wooded forests. Its natural splendor, coupled with comfortable commutes to urban centers, a solid school system and excellent recreational offerings, makes Weston a choice spot for family life.

Residents carefully preserve the beauty of Weston. The town adopted a master plan almost 35 years ago to protect vast areas of land from development and to establish minimum lot sizes. As a result, the attractive homes of Weston are set on spacious lots and surrounded by natural beauty. Residences include traditional colonials, charming farmhouses and streamlined contemporary designs.

The picturesque terrain also lends itself to outdoor and sporting pleasure. The 1,746-acre Devil's Den nature preserve features hiking trails that meander through the woods, picnic areas and a lovely pond. The town recreation department hosts year-round activities for all ages, including ski trips, indoor swimming, athletic programs and innovative camps. Water sports are accessible at the town swimming pond and at the beaches of neighboring Westport. A riding academy provides equestrian fun. Several private clubs offer skeet and trap shooting and indoor and outdoor tennis courts and golf courses.

Weston's children receive a strong academic foundation at a uniquely interconnected school complex on 117 acres adjacent to the municipal offices. A comprehensive school construction project completed in 2006 addressed all schools, and included the construction of a new school for grades 3, 4 and 5. A wide selection of culturally enriching programs, including music, visual arts, drama, athletics and interscholastic programs, supplement traditional coursework.

A strong youth services program, a well-attended senior center and an active library round out the offerings for Weston residents.
